Listen and Act

PAVILION PERSPECTIVE
September 16, 2023

Attend to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in both tasks,
for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.
1 TIMOTHY 4:16

Who is like the Lord, our God, and looks upon the heavens and the earth below? He raises up the lowly from the dust; from the dunghill He lifts up the poor. (Ps 113:5-7) The works of His hands are faithful and just; sure are all His precepts, reliable forever and ever, wrought in truth and equity (Ps 111:7-8).

Jesus said, "I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them. That one is like a man building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built." (Lk 6:47-48)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; prudent are all who live by it (Ps 111:10). He has sent deliverance to His people; He has ratified His covenant forever; holy and awesome is His name (Ps 111:9). Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding. It is impossible for God to do wrong, and for the Almighty to act unjustly (Jb 34:10).

You see and recognize what is right but refuse to act on it. You hear with your ears, but you don't really listen (Isa 42:20). Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word. Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone. (1 Tim 4:14-15) Set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity (1 Tim 4:12).

Praise, you servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord both now and forever. From the rising to the setting of the sun is the name of the Lord to be praised. High above all nations is the Lord; above the heavens is His glory. (Ps 113:1-4) To the king of ages, incorruptible, invisible, the only God, honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (1 Tim 1:17)

O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name (Dn 9:119). Listen in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive and act and give to each according to all his ways, whose heart You know, for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men (1 Kgs 8:39).
