Compete well for the faith.
Lay hold of eternal life, to which you were called
when you made the noble confession
in the presence of many witnesses.
1 TIMOTHY 6 : 12

Those who want to be rich are falling into temptation and into a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evils, and some people in their desire for it have strayed from the faith and have pierced themselves with many pains. (1 Tim 6:9-10)

Jesus said, "You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?’ (Mt. 18:32-33)

They trust in their wealth; the abundance of their riches is their boast. Yet in no way can a man redeem himself, or pay his own ransom to God; too high is the price to redeem one’s life; he would never have enough to remain alive always and not see destruction. (Ps 49:7-10) We brought nothing into the world, just as we shall not be able to take anything out of it (1 Tim 6:7). Fear not when a man grows rich, when the wealth of his house becomes great, for when he dies, he shall take none of it; his wealth shall not follow him down (Ps 49:17-18).

None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For this is why Christ died and came to life, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. (Rom 14:7-9)

Forgive your neighbor’s injustice; then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven (Sir 27:2). Remember your last days, set enmity aside; remember death and decay, and cease from sin! Think of the commandments, hate not your neighbor; remember the Most High’s covenant, and overlook faults. (Sir 27:6-7)

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all my being bless His holy name. He pardons all your iniquities, heals all your ills. Not according to our sins does He deal with us, nor does He requite us according to our crimes. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so surpassing is His kindness toward those who fear Him. (Ps 103:1,3,10-11)
