However, the people who are living in the land are fierce,
and the towns are fortified and very strong.
Besides, we saw descendants of the Anakim there.
NUMBERS 13 : 28

Fortify means to protect or strengthen against attack; surround or provide with defensive military works, to furnish with a means of resisting force or standing strain or wear. First recorded in 1400–50; late Middle English fortifien, from Middle French fortifier, from Late Latin fortificāre, equivalent to Latin forti(s) “strong” + -ficāre -fy. (Dictionry.com)

The Lord said, "Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). I will seek the lost, bring back the scattered, bind up the broken and strengthen the sick" (Ezekiel 34:16). Let him rely on My protection, let him make peace with Me, Let him make peace with Me.” (Isaiah 27:5) With whom My hand will be established; My arm also will strengthen him (Psalm 89:21).

For all of them were trying to frighten us, thinking, “They will become discouraged with the work and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands (Nehemiah 6:9). For wisdom is protection just as money is protection, But the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the lives of its possessors. (Ecclesiates 7:12). Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone (1 Chronicles 29:12).

The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one (2 Thesalonians 3:3). Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble (Hebrews 12:12). Comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word (2 Thesalonians 2:17). Be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near (James 5:8).

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you (1 Peter 5:10).

O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will strengthen their heart, You will incline Your ear (Psalm 10:17).
