He told them,
“Let us go on to the nearby villages
that I may preach there also.
For this purpose have I come.”
(Mark 1:31)
Jesus came to this world with a mission to preach the good news of God's kingdom, to heal the sick and the brokenhearted, to set the captives free and the oppressed liberated. He spoke with authority and wisdom, performed miracles and signs with compassion, challenged the hypocrites and the wicked and forgave the sinners and the repentant.
Look for Jesus in the midst of the pain. He is the healer who can mend your wounds and scars, the comforter who can soothe your sorrows and fears, the friend who can love you unconditionally.
Look for Jesus in the midst of the storm. He is the one who can calm the wind and the waves, the one who can give you peace and courage, the one who can save you from the raging sea.
Look for Jesus in the midst of the darkness. He is the light of the world that shines in the night, the truth that sets you free from the lies, the way that leads you to the eternal life.
Lord Jesus,
You came to preach the good news of God's kingdom, heal the sick and the brokenhearted, and to set the captives free and the oppressed liberated. Speak Lord, for your servant is listening. I long to hear Your voice and Your will. Help me to obey all Your commands and Your calling. I seek to please You and do You good.
Thank You so much for the plans You have for me, to prosper me and work all things for my good and benefit, according to Your purpose.
Amen

II: The Mystery of Jesus
THE CURE OF SIMON'S MOTHER-IN-LAW / OTHER HEALINGS / JESUS LEAVES CAPERNAUM
Mark 1:29-31 / 32-34 / 35-39
29 On leaving the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. 31 He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them. 32 When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. 33 The whole town was gathered at the door. 34 He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him. 35 Rising very early before dawn, he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed. 36 Simon and those who were with him pursued him 37 and on finding him said, “Everyone is looking for you.” 38 He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages that I may preach there also. For this purpose have I come.” 39 So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons throughout the whole of Galilee. (Mark 1:29-39)
